Well late today (friday) I was working on a lift here in CHCH (I work for a major lift company here)
it was a hydraulic lift, with a PLC based controler (in other words, one of those CHEEEAPPPP shitty lifts)
apperantly cheap enough to not bother with a mechanical interlock on their Star/Delta Contacters,
andway, because of the freaky PLC controler we couldnt get the lift off the buffers (we had sunk it till it was sitting on the buffers)
se we manualy started the hydraulic pump, which involves 2 people I was in charge of the main contactor and the delta, my workmate was in charge of the star contactor, first time it went fine, we started the pump ok, managed to mopve the lift nowhere (it was a unfamiliar valve block on this hydraulic)
it seemed we needed to energise a valve to get the lift to start to move up, so we changed our wiring to open the valve when the motor went Delta........

so we start again, We get the motor started on star, I then get my work mate to release star so I can press in delta,. but I'm a bit too fast, and manage to push it in before he has released the star contactor

Well.. that means we have a Direct 400V short...

BOOM!!!!!!!

we're greeted by a huge blue flash, lots of smoke, and flying peices of molten copper in all directions.. 15 minutes before knockoff time.

se we spent some more hours there replacing contactors, which arnt cheap BTW.......
and my nice Stylich Bolle Safty glasses are fucked now too, they have spots of molten copper embedded them now :(

Almost makes me wanna climb on a harley and ride across every state, and for and Sportbike rider, thats a hell of a conceit

I know, and I have heard lots , LOTS of people from the US tell me, "You there in New Zealand, You have a Bueatiful country"
but by the looke of it people, you have one yourself, with snowcapped mountain ranges, and rivers, with lush vallies

and to be honest, I realy wish I could see it, tour across it by motorbike.
and so this kittens advice for today
look for the bueaty under your noses, rather that that far away

Well its been and gone, FurcoNZ 2005, our small national annual con
I must take this ime to mention, NZ, Yes Humble NZ is is posettion of the first Anthromorphic Mushroom fur! (go Figure?)

Anyway, Rode my motorcycle up to the con, picking up Pinky on the way, Arrived at the con late friday.
All in all the con went pretty damm well, Highlight for me would have been whipping together dinner for 18 furs. I think I'm gonna be cooking at the next furcon too, theree seemed to be lots of positive feedback about my food, so Furs willing I'll work on a new menu for next year

I Am Sad to see the Pasing of Rosa Parks, on the 24th of this month.
it is sad HOW MANY OF YOU forget what this woman did, by a simple action, Refusing to give up her seat on the bus to a white man she inspiresd the montgomery bus boycott, and was one ofd the people who inspired Martin Luthor King Jr. Rosa later becoming active in the NAACP movement.

Parks boarded the Cleveland Avenue bus on December 1, 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama after a day at work. She was sitting in the 'colored' section of the bus. The 'colored' section of the buses in Montgomery was not fixed in size, but determined by the placement of a movable sign. On Montgomery buses, the first four rows were reserved for whites. The bus rear was reserved for blacks, who made up more than 75 percent of the bus system's riders. Blacks could sit in the middle rows until those seats were needed by whites. Then blacks had to move to seats in the rear, stand or, if there was no room, leave the bus. Even getting on the bus presented hurdles. If whites were already sitting in the front, blacks could board to pay the fare but then they had to disembark and re-enter through the rear door. The driver could move the 'colored' section sign, or even remove it altogether. For years the black community had complained about this severe unfairness, and Mrs. Parks was no exception. Parks said, " My resisting being mistreated on the bus did not begin with that particular arrest...I did a lot of walking in Montgomery. " After a confrontation on the bus in 1943, the driver, James Blake ejected Mrs. Parks from his bus. On that fateful day in 1955, Mrs Parks had initially sat behind the sign, but refused to move when the driver, Blake, moved it behind her. Blake demanded that four blacks give up their seats in the middle section so a lone white man could sit. Three of them complied. When recalling the incident for Eyes on the Prize, a 1987 public television series on the civil rights movement, Parks said, " When he saw me still sitting, he asked if I was going to stand up and I said, 'No, I'm not'. And he said, 'Well, if you don't stand up, I'm going to have to call the police and have you arrested.' I said, 'You may do that.' " When Parks refused to give up her seat, a police officer arrested her. As the officer took her away, she recalled that she asked, " Why do you push us around?" The officer's response, "I don't know, but the law's the law, and you're under arrest." She added, "I only knew that, as I was being arrested, that it was the very last time that I would ever ride in humiliation of this kind." Four days later, she was tried, and convicted of disorderly conduct as well as of violating a local ordinance. Parks was fined $14
